Mrs. Susan A. Fisch

I would like to give you a little insight as to who I am.  As parents, we like to think that we teach our children values.  My eldest taught me.  He gave new and deeper meaning to the words: honesty, integrity, tenacity, courageousness, responsibility, dedication, love and laughter.  He taught me that one should always keep their options available and never leave any door unopened.  My middle child taught me to face life with a smile, a kind word, an even temper, to accept the rights of others' beliefs and to make myself an integral part of any team effort.  My youngest taught me how to respect individuality and accept unconditionally the things you cannot change.  My husband taught me that although you can't change people and events that sometimes negatively impact your life, only you can choose how you react to these outside forces.   Throughout the years, he has been my biggest support and my best friend.

I have accomplished much throughout my life that I am proud of.  My educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, a Master's Degree in Reading, and a Specialist in Educational Leadership.  As a young child, I was always taught to believe in myself and in others.  Education was always my passion and my choice for a career.  I look back on my 24 years with M-DCPS and know that I have made and continue to make a positive difference in children's lives through my leadership and my strong strength of character.  As I watch children grow, I believe I possess the unique ability to guide their development, as I become their advocate and confidante as well as their educator.  I experience no greater happiness than when the person I am helping is the child who is entrusted into my care.  As an administrator, I see myself positively interacting with the community, parents, staff, and students and I receive no greater pleasure than when I am able to help.  I also believe that a sense of humor goes a long way as any life-challenge is faced.  Being able to face adversities head-on with optimism, dedication, patience, and inner-strength and a smile are wonderful attributes to pass on to a young child.

I am thrilled to be a welcome and an integral member of the
MLK-8 family!
